Care & Use Guide

Follow these instructions to care for your WUFTREK gear

Harness Cleaning and Regular Maintenance

  • Hand wash in cold water: Use cold water and mild soap to clean polyester fabric. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach or chlorine-based products that can damage the material.
  • Air dry: After washing, let the harness dry naturally in a shaded, ventilated area. Do not tumble dry or leave it in direct sunlight for long periods, as excessive heat and UV exposure can affect the fabric and hardware.
  • Remove dirt regularly: Clean the harness after use in dusty, muddy or sandy environments to help reduce premature wear.

Zamak and Acetal Hardware Care

  • Inspect regularly: Check metal zamak hardware and technical acetal components for corrosion, cracks, deformation or unusual wear.
  • Dry after exposure to moisture: If the harness gets wet, dry it thoroughly before storage.
  • Lubricate only when needed: If a metal mechanism becomes difficult to open or close, use a small amount of lubricant intended for metal hardware and wipe away any excess.

Harness Safety and Correct Fit

  • Check the fit regularly: The harness should be secure without being excessively tight. As a general check, you should be able to slide about two fingers between the harness and your dog where appropriate, while still preventing excessive movement or slipping.
  • Do not leave it on unsupervised: Remove the harness during unsupervised rest or play because it can snag on objects.

Avoid Incorrect Use

  • Do not use damaged gear: Replace the harness if stitching is significantly worn, hardware is cracked or the material is compromised.
  • Avoid dragging or extreme force: Do not use the harness to drag heavy objects or subject it to forces beyond normal intended use.

Collar Cleaning and Regular Maintenance

  • Hand wash in cold water: Clean the collar with cold water and mild soap. Avoid bleach, harsh detergents and aggressive chemicals.
  • Air dry: Let the collar dry naturally in a shaded, ventilated area. Do not tumble dry or leave it in direct sunlight for long periods.
  • Remove dirt regularly: Clean the collar after muddy, sandy or dusty outings to help reduce premature wear.

Zamak and Acetal Hardware Care

  • Inspect frequently: Check metal and technical-plastic hardware for wear, corrosion, cracks or deformation.
  • Dry after moisture exposure: If the collar gets wet, dry it thoroughly before storage.
  • Lubricate only when needed: If metal hardware becomes difficult to operate, apply a small amount of lubricant made for metal mechanisms and wipe away excess.

Collar Safety and Correct Fit

  • Check the fit regularly: The collar should be secure and comfortable. As a general guide, you should be able to slide about two fingers between the collar and the dog’s neck while still maintaining a secure fit.
  • Avoid prolonged unsupervised wear: Remove the collar when appropriate during unsupervised rest or play because it can snag on objects.

Do not use if damaged: Replace the collar if you find significantly worn stitching, cracked hardware or deformed material.

Avoid excessive force: Do not use the collar to apply unnecessary force or sudden jerking beyond normal intended use.

Leash Cleaning and Regular Maintenance

  • Hand wash in cold water: Clean the leash with cold water and mild soap to remove dirt and residue from walks. Avoid harsh chemicals that can damage polyester fibers.
  • Air dry: Let the leash dry naturally in a shaded, ventilated area. Do not tumble dry or leave it in direct sunlight for long periods.
  • Clean after demanding conditions: If the leash is used in mud, sand or salt water, rinse and clean it after use and allow it to dry completely.

Zamak Hardware Care

  • Inspect regularly: Check clips and metal hardware for wear, corrosion, cracks or deformation.
  • Lubricate when necessary: If a clip or metal mechanism becomes stiff, use a small amount of lubricant intended for metal hardware and remove any excess.

Leash Safety

  • Inspect before each use: Check the leash, clips, stitching and connection points before every walk.
  • Confirm the clip is closed: Make sure the clip is fully secured to the dog’s harness or collar before use.
  • Avoid unnecessary constant tension: Leashes are built to manage normal walking forces, but prolonged extreme tension or sudden excessive loads can accelerate wear.

Avoid Incorrect Use

  • Do not use if damaged: Replace the leash if you find significant wear, loose stitching, cracked hardware or compromised material.
  • Do not allow chewing: Biting can quickly weaken webbing, rope and stitching.
  • Do not drag heavy objects: Dog leashes are designed for handling dogs, not for towing or lifting heavy loads.

Raincoat Cleaning and Regular Maintenance

  • Surface clean after use: Wipe away dirt, mud or dust with a damp cloth.
  • Hand wash when needed: For deeper cleaning, use cold water and mild soap. Avoid strong detergents, bleach and harsh chemicals that can damage the PVC coating or fabric.
  • Avoid machine washing: Machine washing may damage the waterproof coating and hardware.
  • Air dry: Dry in a shaded, ventilated place. Avoid tumble dryers and prolonged direct sunlight or high heat.

Zamak and Acetal Hardware Care

  • Inspect regularly: Check metal zamak and technical acetal components for wear, corrosion, cracks or deformation.
  • Dry hardware after rain: After exposure to rain or heavy moisture, dry metal and plastic components thoroughly.
  • Lubricate only when necessary: Use a small amount of metal-compatible lubricant on stiff metal mechanisms and wipe away excess.

Correct Storage

  • Store clean and dry: Make sure the raincoat is completely dry before storage to reduce the risk of mold and odor.
  • Avoid extreme folds: Store it loosely rolled or hung when possible to reduce repeated creasing of the coated material.

Avoid Incorrect Use

  • Do not use if damaged: Stop using the raincoat if fabric tears, loose seams or faulty hardware could affect fit or function.
  • Avoid sharp objects: Keep the coated fabric away from rough or sharp surfaces that could puncture or tear it.

Bed Cleaning and Regular Maintenance

Daily surface cleaning:

  • Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals that can damage the textile.
  • Use a damp cloth and mild soap for surface dirt and stains.
  • Avoid stiff brushes that may damage the fabric.
  • Dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning.

Care in Humid or Outdoor Conditions

Avoid prolonged outdoor exposure:

  • If used outdoors, bring the bed into a dry place after use to reduce premature wear.

Prevent trapped moisture:

  • In very humid conditions, air the bed regularly and make sure it dries completely to reduce mold and odor.

Inspect the Bed for Safety

  • Check regularly for open seams, excessive wear or damaged areas that could create a hazard.

What to Avoid

  • Prolonged direct sunlight: Excessive heat and UV exposure can affect textile materials.
  • Tumble drying: Air drying is preferred unless the product-specific care label states otherwise.
  • Persistent chewing: The bed is not designed as a chew toy. If your dog chews bedding, provide appropriate chew toys and supervise use.

Final Tips

  • Rotate periodically: Turn the bed from time to time to encourage more even wear.

Use an extra protective cover: A spare or protective cover can make frequent cleaning easier and help extend practical product life.

Toy Cleaning and Regular Maintenance

  • Clean the surface frequently: Wipe away dirt, saliva and debris with a damp cloth.
  • Hand wash with lukewarm water: For deeper cleaning, use lukewarm water and mild soap. Clean gently to avoid unnecessary abrasion to Kevlar® fabric and nylon rope. Avoid harsh detergents and chemicals.
  • Air dry: Let the toy dry completely in a shaded, ventilated area. Avoid tumble dryers and prolonged direct sunlight.

Kevlar® Fabric Care

  • Inspect regularly: Durable materials still wear over time. Check the toy frequently, especially with strong dogs.
  • Avoid cuts and punctures: Keep the toy away from sharp objects that can damage fibers and stitching.
  • Use it for its intended activity: Durable does not mean indestructible. Interactive tug and fetch toys should not be used for persistent unsupervised chewing.

Nylon Rope Care

  • Inspect for wear: Check for fraying, broken fibers or significant damage. Remove the toy if pieces could be swallowed.
  • Dry after moisture exposure: Allow the rope to dry completely to reduce odor and moisture buildup.
  • Limit persistent chewing: Repeated chewing can rapidly damage rope fibers. Supervise play.

Safety Precautions

  • Supervise play: Always supervise interactive play, especially with strong chewers.
  • Remove damaged toys: Stop use if seams open, fibers become loose or pieces break off, as these can create ingestion or choking hazards.
  • Use for play: These toys are intended for supervised activities such as tug and fetch, not persistent chewing.
