CHOOSE THE LENGTH

TrekLine 4 m, Trek 5M or Trek 10M?

All three provide controlled freedom, but their construction and range are different. Choose a length you can organise and handle safely.

TrekLine4 m · one carabiner · exploration and everyday training
Trek 5M5 m · two carabiners and three rings · adjustable length and greater range
Trek 10M10 m · two carabiners and five D-rings · longer-distance training, tracking and controlled exploration

DISTANCE TRAINING

Practise recall without letting your dog completely off leash

A long leash can help you practise recall and stay exercises in suitable spaces. It does not replace an enclosed area or guarantee a reliable response by itself: progress gradually, avoid sudden jerks and reward correct responses.

RESPONSIBLE USE

Extra length requires more attention

  • Do not wrap the webbing around hands, fingers, legs or the body.
  • Gather the leash before crossings, bicycles, vehicles, people or other dogs.
  • Do not allow the dog to sprint at full speed and hit the end of the leash abruptly.
  • Inspect the webbing, stitching, rings and carabiners before every use.
  • Never leave a dog attached to the leash without supervision.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How to choose and use a long leash

What is a long dog leash used for?
It lets a dog explore, sniff and practise exercises at a greater distance without being completely off leash. It is useful in open spaces with good visibility and enough room to handle it.
Which length should I choose: four, five or ten metres?
Four metres provide a practical balance for exploration and everyday training. Five metres offer greater range with adjustable length. Ten metres are ideal for distance recall, tracking and controlled exploration in large open spaces. Choose a length you can gather and handle safely.
Is a long leash the same as a retractable leash?
No. A long leash uses fixed-length webbing that the handler gathers and releases manually. A retractable leash stores its line inside a mechanism and works differently.
Can I use a long leash in urban areas?
It can be used in parks and open spaces. On pavements, at crossings, in busy streets or near other dogs and people, gather it and maintain a short distance.
Is it suitable for large and strong dogs?
It may be suitable when the equipment matches the dog's size and strength and the handler can manage the dog. Do not let the dog build speed and hit the end of the leash abruptly, and inspect the equipment before every use.
Can I use it for recall training?
Yes. It allows recall practice while maintaining a physical connection, but it should be used progressively and in a suitable setting. It does not replace an enclosed space or training work.
How should I clean and inspect a long leash?
Hand wash with cold water and mild soap, rinse and air dry in the shade. Regularly inspect the webbing, stitching, rings and carabiners. Do not use it if you notice cuts, significant wear or deformed hardware.
