  • Set the configuration before the walk and do not change it while the dog is applying tension.
  • Keep enough control at crossings, in busy streets and around other dogs.
  • Inspect the webbing, stitching, ring, carabiners and adjustment system before every outing.
  • Do not use FreeTrek as a vehicle restraint system.

How to choose and use a hands-free leash

What is a hands-free dog leash?
It is an adjustable leash that can attach around the handler's body, so one hand does not have to hold it throughout the walk. FreeTrek can also be used as a traditional leash.
What are FreeTrek's three modes?
It can be used with a traditional hold, across the body or adjusted around the waist. Secure the configuration before starting the walk.
Is FreeTrek always 2 metres long?
Its fully extended length in traditional mode is 2 metres. When configured around the body or waist, part of that length forms the body adjustment and changes the distance available to the dog.
Can I use a hands-free leash for running?
It can suit light activities when the configuration, dog and setting are appropriate. For regular running or pulling sports, compare a sport belt such as TrekBelt and a shock-absorbing line such as TrekFlex.
Does a hands-free leash stop a dog from pulling?
No. It frees your hands, but it does not correct pulling by itself. The dog still needs controlled walking skills and the handler must maintain a stable posture.
Should I connect it to a collar or a harness?
It depends on the dog and activity. For calm walks, use properly fitted equipment. For dynamic activities or dogs that apply tension, a harness suited to the activity is generally preferable.
How should I clean and inspect FreeTrek?
Hand wash with cold water and mild soap, air dry and regularly inspect the webbing, stitching, carabiners, ring and adjustment system. Do not use damaged equipment.
